Different Rules...

Different parent, different rules I suppose.

After yesterday's post, I thought it was funny when I went to church by myself in the afternoon (we were keeping Kaitlyn home due to a green nose) and came home to find this:

Maybe he thinks it's okay since he has an upholstery cleaner in the garage. Guess he'll be using it soon...

Compromising

Sure you can eat your ice cream in the living room... you just have to wear a towel or two.

Allergies

Saturday was the Buddy Walk and it couldn't have been better weather for it. I packed the sunscreen, extra juice and snacks and we waited outside for Rebecca to pick us up. While we were waiting, Kaityn played in the front yard and I noticed that her nose was running a little.

Well, after that, it just got worse and worse. Her nose was running, her eyes were running and her face was getting swollen and red. We started the Buddy Walk and after about 10 minutes she started crying and said she couldn't see. Poor thing was so swollen up and just miserable. I found a nearby walk-in clinic and the doctor said it was definitely an allergic reaction and we should try to pinpoint what - but that is near impossible. We gave her an antihistimine and she was doing better in about 1/2 an hour. Guess I'll be packing the antihistimine in her diaper bag from now on!

Here's one picture as it was progressing.

Today we are off to the waterslides. Looks like it will be a good day for it - lots of sunshine and maybe some clouds in the late afternoon. I'm sure Kaitlyn will have a blast!

Zoo - May 2009

Here are a few pictures from our visit to the zoo last weekend. Kaitlyn loved seeing all the animals and we'll definitely do this again - next time on a sunny day.

Kaitlyn is 3

Okay - so Kaitlyn actually turned 3 yesterday. We were all so exhausted, I didn't have a chance to log onto the computer and we were all in bed by 9:30.

Yesterday I gave her a few helium balloons which she loves and we took her out for dinner, just Ryan, myself and Kaitlyn, to White Spot and she got a Pirate Pak. Too bad she was exhausted already at that point from playing out in the sun all day and we didn't end up staying too long. When we got home, we gave her a couple of books I picked up at the Book Man which she loves and can't wait for Daddy to read her.

This weekend will be a busy one with the Buddy Walk (walk for down syndrome awareness) tomorrow in Abbotsford and Monday I am taking a day off work. Hopefully the gorgeous weather holds out and we are planning to take Kaitlyn to the waterslides for the first time this year!

Last weekend we went to the zoo for the first time with Kaitlyn and despite the rain, she still loved it. I have some pictures which I will hopefully post tonight.

Anyway, I am late for work again as usual and have a doctor's appointment this morning as well. Hopefully I'll be back tonight with some picture posting!

May 2009

Life is still moving along here in our household, although you wouldn't know it from this blog.

Our co-homeowners (my brother and his wife) will be moving out next month as the newlyweds have purchased a bigger home. We're busy with plans and scouring ads, with the goal to have the downstairs rented out by July 1. And so begins a new chapter in our life - as landlords! We first need to move the laundry outside and then build a room under the deck so we can better market the suite as "shared laundry" and also have someone do some wiring for us and then we'll be putting a stove/oven in the suite as well. A lot of work to do but it will be worth it in the end as we won't have such a hefty mortgage to handle on our own.

Work for both of us is going normally. I'm finding it difficult somedays to work all day and try to stay up and socialize with my family in the evenings. Plus I'm already getting swollen feet, even though my belly is still teeny tiny. I am pretty sure I am much growing much slower this pregnancy than last!

Kaitlyn is obsessed with her birthday being around the corner and likes to tell people she is "2 and almost 3". She expects a birthday party everyday for some reason, but doesn't seem disappointed when she doesn't get one.

Anyway, here are some current pics to share since I haven't done that in a while:

Kaitlyn and her styling new patio set:

Hmmm, Ryan, that book might be a little scary for Kaitlyn and her 2-year-old cousin, Alyssa:

Saying cheese:

"Mom I'm sleeping", playing makebelieve in the middle of the hallway - great place for it:

Can you believe she's almost 3 and still sleeps like this, with her bum way in the air? And yes, she's still in a crib - guess that's the next thing to do is move her to a toddler bed:
