Video of Kaitlyn and her newest toy

Yes, yes, I'll be the first to admit we spoil our child. Due to the double diapering, I thought it might be a good idea to look at cloth diapers for the secondary diaper to cut down on costs. So we went to the used baby store in Abbotsford to take a look. Ryan had no interest in looking at diapers so off he went to try to find something to entertain Kaitlyn. Well, she fell in love with it and it was 25% off - how could we resist? Hope this works - this is my first attempt at posting a video. I wish it had sound - she was laughing hysterically the entire time (except the end). And please excuse the mess. We allow Kaitlyn to destroy the place and her toys are strung from one end of the room to the other by the time she goes to bed at night but it only takes 5 minutes to put them all away.

Kaitlyn's 9 Month Checkup

Kaitlyn had her routine 9 month checkup on Thursday and at first everything seemed to be going very well. Current stats: 19.4 pounds, 26.9 inches length. The dr seemed impressed with her mobility (crawling, standing with support and walking along furniture) and said she seems very healthy and developing at a very good rate. Then he checked her hips/legs. As he rotated her right hip, he looked concerned and told me she has a click in her hip. I had no idea what this meant but apparently it is not dislocated but also not growing properly in the socket, causing a click noise. He instructed me to double diaper her and if that does not solve the problem, he will be referring her to an orthopaedic specialist for evaluation. I have since found out that 20% of cases require surgery to fix! At the very end of the appointment I asked the dr to look into her ears as she was just getting over a cold. Lo and behold, double ear infection. I found this strange since she has been super happy and sleeping through the night but am so glad I asked the dr to take a look.

I also had the opportunity to work on my return to work status at the end of April. I finally spoke to Mr. Oppal about the possibility of my not returning and he was so supportive. He agrees we should stay in Chilliwack if I can find something out this way. After speaking with him, I finalized my application form and resume and dropped it off at the Chilliwack Courthouse - this would be absolutely ideal since it is only a few blocks away.

So that is the update on us. Other than that, I am trying my hand at selling a few items on ebay and one auction is really taking off which is quite interesting (and addictive!) to watch.

And here I sit...

...trying to be quieter than a mouse. My typing skills are suffering because of it. Right now I am baby-sitting at Rebecca and Brad's and a miracle has occurred. All 3 children are napping. Elayna is only a few feet away from me on the chair so I am trying to even breathe quietly. I know, she's a much sounder sleeper than Kaitlyn so I really shouldn't have too much to worry about but still... I really would like an hour of peace. This morning I went into the kitchen to get Kaitlyn's breakfast ready and could hear her crying almost instantly after I left the living room. I come back and there is Elayna, dragging Kaitlyn backwards by her feet across the dining room floor. Nice. Apparently Elayna was helping her crawl. Umm, ok. Baby-sitting is sure interesting but tests my patience for sure. Anyways, back to silently browsing the net...

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone (yesterday). Our day was not overly exciting here. Ryan worked late and Kaitlyn and I stayed in most of the day. She was in a super good mood (thank goodness since the day before she was Miserable - notice the capital M). She is a cruiser now though which creates a whole new world for us around here. We have to constantly watch her. She pulls up on everything (furniture, toys, exersaucer, us) and is learning how to fall gracefully. Today she had a pretty nasty fall and has a bit of a bump on her head. That should teach her not to lick the tv! I'm sure it won't be the last bump she gets so I'm not too worked up over it. And she loves to walk along furniture. This kid is hitting milestone after milestone lately. I'm pretty thankful that I've had this year off work to witness all the milestones. Hopefully she'll be walking and talking before I return to the workforce at the end of April so I don't miss her first steps and words. Obviously the "return to work" issue has been weighing heavily on me lately but such is life. I'll definitely miss her during the day but am thankful to be working for such a wonderful employer (Province of BC) where the pay and benefits are wonderful. Anyways, here are a few new pictures of Kaitlyn from yesterday. Until later!

Note: you can't see it too well but her shirt says "Adorable little girl seeking slightly older little boy. Must have hair. Need to share love of strained carrots." Yes, Kaitlyn is my dolly and I love to dress her up :)

Monday Again

Not much new to report around here. Kaitlyn is crawling everywhere and loving her newfound freedom. The cat is not too thrilled with this though and we don't see too much of her anymore. Kaitlyn is in love with the cat and chases her around the room (with a huge grin while doing so).

Today the weather is so-so but we may go for a stroller ride as the laundry needs to be done and I am out of laundry detergent, I need the exercise, and Kaitlyn loves the stroller. It's a win-win-win situation.

Here are a couple new pictures of Kaitlyn. Enjoy and have a great week!

Stalking the kitty:

Still stalking the kitty (you can barely see her in the background but she's annoyed as usual). Kaitlyn thinks she's got her this time from the smile on her face:

Showing off her teeth. She was in a super mood this day so how could I not take a picture?
